I only run 1× optics- so I don't experience any eye relief issues. All of my training is done at CQB/<100yd distances and I keep both eyes open- which is why I developed this specific setup... it is perfect for my application.

FWIW... the Spitfire 3× has just a slightly smaller objective lens and a tad less eye relief than the Primary Arms SLx 3× MicroPrism- but probably not enough to make that big of a difference.

Gonna be messing with this here in the near future. Kram 5.5mm thick acog spacer I pulled off my AR. Same thickness as the cogburn spacer but with more rearward mounting options. Paired with the 5x has potential to be an awesome combo. This is mounted using middle hole in the cogburn mount.

Also keep your eyes peeled for this piggyback mount to be released.

With a bit of "creative customization"- one could end up with a mount that solves several of the optic mounting issues inherent in the Garand action design.

(and someone might be working on just such a thing...😉)

Ideally I'd love to stick a TA11 3.5x acog on it and call it done. This puts the optic low enough the piggyback dot is also viable still. Just need to get some hard measurements off someone to make sure the ocular housing wouldn't try to share the same space as my eyebrow.

I think you need to talk to member Hutch, he has an ecig mounted.

@Para Pete Thanks for dropping by my other thread, glad I found this one. I have just one simple question for you and @762natoamr before I give up on this idea entirely;

IS IT POSSIBLE - using the Cogburn mount and some variation of the ACOG Spacer or any combination of the several risers available for them - to mount a PA Microprism in such a way as to be able to have a natural hold on the rifle and normal cheek-weld - and still get comfortably inside the VERY restrictive eye boy these fixed 3X scopes have?

I tried a Vortex SPITFIRE 3X, a scope I considered superior to the PA 3X in some ways, and there was simply NO WAY to get inside the eye-box of that scope without craning my neck unnaturally far forward. Not even close. The Vortex SPITFIRE and the PA Microprism have nearly identical eye-relief as stated by the respective manufacturers.

PS - Where did you get that AWESOME handguard-rail mounted rear ring sight?!?

See posts #63 and #64 above- hodgexj1996 is working on just such a thing, and another member is about to start working on another mount design based on a similar idea discussed here on the forum.

It's an XS Sights Low Weaver Backup Ghost Ring rear sight...

The low cantilever spacer gets my 5X plenty far enough to be comfortably in the eye box, and probably gives something close to a normal cheek weld for most shooters. The 3X I believe has a more forgiving eye box than the 5X.

Personally I like my cheekbone planted firmly on the comb with my face fat spilling over the sides like a muffin top, and my nose nearly touching the receiver. With my cheekbones where they are, I like 1/2" of comb riser ever for stock irons. I probably have 3/4" of riser for my 5X PA.

How’s it shoot with the 1x scope? I have the same setup with the 3x and it shoots about a foot high at 25 yds and I’m out of adjustment.. I know the 1x has 140moa of adjustment. Wondering if that would be enough to work
