From my experience going back to the 80's with the Spanish STAR pistols....

Those are excellent pistols!

I carried a M28 9MM STAR for years!

That is not the lowest price I have seen but these pistols have been gong up in value!

I even think parts are available at Numrich Arms?

But you probably won't need them, a robust pistol! (my opinion!)

 

Not many of these around, only other one I found for sale was NIB & sold for $705.

 

One thing to look out for, is the tendency of the firing pin to break. if I remember correctly the Star has a floating firing pin, and they don't take kindly to dry firing.

 

Spend another $100 and get a Ruger CMD with the alloy frame. USA made and parts and magazines are not an issue.

Even better would be to save up and get yourself a Colt 1911!

You could be right, I really like the Ruger SR1911 LW w/ the SS slide!

 

I had one in the mid 70s. It shot great and carried nice. Parts and mags. maybe a problem.

 

OK I've decided that after I get a set of Novak Sights installed & replace the shrunken grips I aint far from the Ruger.
I'll save my money.

I think that's the best call!
I turned a friend onto the Ruger and he's been carrying it for 2 or 3 years now and he Loves it.

 

I had two of those, one ran good the other well not so much. It also is the only model of pistol to give me hammer bite. In my view a better option is the STAR BM, all steel and a very good bargain that can usually be found for under $350. I have one and its been a great little 9mm.

Star BM's are available now on AIM Inc website the top offered is $250 for practically brand new. I got one and I love it. A tad heavy because it's all steel.

 

Yeah I have a Star model B Super 9MMP that's my truck gun. I want an alloy frame 1911 commander style when I carry. which aint very often.
I been carrying a Bersa Thunder Lite .380 which carries great, but it's still a .380.
