Hi everybody I'm new here obviously, not completely new to the M1A /garand rifles. I have both a socom and a garand

I'm strongly considering buying one of the Springfield loaded precision rifles that come in the archangel stocks and I'm just wondering if anybody else has much experience and what that experience was. Mostly wondering about out of the box accuracy and such, as I hope to make it a "DMR" type rifle. I'm hoping the raffle is capable of about an inch and a half or maybe a little better as it comes out of the box. I will be putting a scope on it

I see very few reviews on forums about the rifle, and I'm generally suspect of reviews by bloggers or magazines. Though I did see one in the NRA magazine and it looked promising.

I'm only looking at the gun in 308 caliber, and I will be shooting hand loads out of it, hopefully with 4064 powder because that's what I have LOL.

So if anybody shot one tell me what y'all thought, and if it's easily capable of doing what I'm asking, or if I'm asking something that's going to take a tremendous amount of tuning. Thanks

This was a good, objective review of a standard model. Good ammo makes a difference in an M1A:

Being able to consistently get small groups is asking a lot. But getting a 'small group' during a multi-group session is a reasonable expectation. And there shouldn't be 'really bad groups' except due to operator or ammo.

I have used about 10 of the Archangel stocks on builds. To get all you can out of them, you have to add a front ferrule, remove material so the gas cylinder isn't making contact and bed the reciever to the stock. It isn't a ton of work but it makes all the difference in the world. I noticed it was a little loose until I made those modifications.

Do you have any where to find some good instructions on that stuff?

Doesn't have to be a video, but pics are a plus 👍🏻

Also, how were the ones you did shooting before you did the work on them?

I had seen those, but was afraid they were puff pieces, that is why I was looking for non influencer input. I was hoping they were pretty factual though

It's looking like it should be pretty solid out of the box though, and if there are issues they are not too bad to deal with. I have a feeling it will do what I was hoping it would do right out of the box now though.

Now I just need to save a little more money

They look very nice, in my opinion they copied the form factor of the JAE. The stock has less features and accuracy enhancing capabilities of the JAE but it can b purchased for two thirds of the cost. If you want to use optics it is a great platform.

I found my old posts about my experiences of using a Promag Archangel stock with a SAI Loaded.

I love mine, and easily shoot 1 1/4 to 1" groups with it.

I have since put mine in a black feather stock, but would not really sure that was necessary.

I don't have mine in hands, yet, however I did purchase one this weekend and hope to have it in hands by this coming weekend. Waiting for the NICS in NJ to clear. If I can pick it up I'll be on the range this weekend, looking forward to it and very excited to be honest. Pics as soon as I can.
