Any one running am Obermeyer barrel on your match M1A? I had a couple of Boots Obermeyer barrels on my bolt rifles years ago and was very pleased and impressed.
Personally, I think Boots Obermeyer may be the best barrel maker in the US....... Have never used one of his service rifle barrels. Some of you who have an Obermeyer 5R barrel give is a report.

5R rifling for M14/M1a

Its interesting that you brought this up. I was at the Shot Show about 4yrs ago and ask Krieger if they would make one. They said they wouldn't. Later during the day I was introduced to an Armour(who I was told trained at Springfield Armory to build match rifles, not SAI). I mentioned what Krieger said. He said back in the day Boots 5R barrels were tough to come by,spendy and ran very well. I read that Boots shot Service Rifle back in the day. It would be interesting to know if he ran 5R's. I'm sure if you went looking for one it would be a tough find. Even now getting a good barrel is tough.

I had one in one of my M1As, unfortunately I sold the rifle. It shot real well.

However, I have 3 Don McCoy built M1s with Obermeyer barrels. The two shoot lights out, have not shot the 3rd one.

Back in the day when Bill Wylde was building all my ARs, he had apparently direct connection with Boots, and by the way McCoy did too, when nobody else were getting Obermeyer barrels, Bill and Don were. The Obermeyer barreled match rifle, a space gun, built by Bill won the 97 and 98 1000 yards iron sight at our state match. And the service rifle AR Bill built won the high service rifle at the long range championship in 98, shooting against primarily 14s on the long range line back then. My buddy Louis, a forum member here who goes by Louis1332, shot the space gun in 98 and I shot the service rifle. Two different years, two different shooters won the same match against Palma and Magnum shooters at 1000 yards.

Bottom line, if you can get one, do it.

Bamban in the same deal that Ripsaw had, where I picked up that JAE stock and Sadlak titanium scope mount there was a barrel action - double lugged receiver, TRW bolt and a short chambered Obermeyer barrel. I was already in the middle of a build and committed to buying the JAE and Sadlak mount so I passed but have always kicked myself for not grabbing it. I don't remember who ended up buying it I know Rick didn't keep it.

I had a Obermeyer 5R barrel on a match bolt gun,it had 4800 rounds through it. With that many rounds through it I really didn't trust it anymore and replaced it. Then I got to thinking, it was bad at the throat, if I had it made into a heavy M1A barrel that whole rear section would be replaced when it Went from 26" to 22" and the chamber installed. This would effectively removed the burned-out throat and about 4 to 5 inches Forward creating in my mind a possibility of getting a barrel to shoot twice. So the barrel was shipped off to Gene Barnett to have it finished as a heavy M1A barrel. It came back from Gene Barnett a beautifully finished M1A barrel. I head spaced it on the tight side at 1.631. It now has 3800 rounds through it and it shoots almost any bullet I can put through it! So I guess you can make a barrel shoot twice. At least it work with Boot's masterpiece. interesting experiment and it seemed to work!
