My rifle is a LRB with Arms #18 mount and fiberglass stock. I was using an Aimpoint PRO with a Warne steel low ring which was a great setup but I was unable to remove the bolt (for routine cleaning) due to the ring interference. I'm searching for a high quality QD mount that sits very low. I'm leaning towards the Arms #22m68 but also saw the American Defense AD-68L. The thing I'm worried about is the throw lever/assembly having enough room to clear the flat portion of the scope mount itself. Anyone have any other recommendations or experience?

I use a Larue LT-150 with my Pro on my S&W M&P15. Not sure if it would suit your needs on your M1A but worth a look. Great mount.
I just looked and saw a Mar 3rd thread by Radio Dude on what I think is the same issue under Modern M14
I haven't checked to determine if the Aimpoint pro with low rings will place the optic dead center over the bore with my mount, maybe off a wee bit. But if that doesn't matter, just to let you know, the height is 2.1" over the bore centerline. If you could tell whether you think the Aimpoint would work I am interested to know.
What about a single A.R.M.S. low scope ring 30mm that would be rugged enough and probably do the trick.
Ping forum member USSF06 or look for old posts or albums from him. IIRC, he used to run exactly the config you're talking about (Aimpoint PRO atop an ARMS 18 mount) and had it pretty well figured out in terms of lowest mounting, non-interference, etc. HTH.
A.R.M.S. M22QD... or you can buy the junk mentioned elsewhere here... 3 tours in Iraq and I trust my life to it. The incidentals mentioned elsewhere here are just that. My Soldiers used it in CQB combat on both the M16, M4, M14 and the CQB when it was finally issued. Then the "new" M68 CCO mount came out. I have other opinions about that one.

Look into the LaRue LT-152 if you want really low. This is designed for the KAC RAS II for an AR-15 and I have one. The RAS II has a hump that sits above the normal picatinny rail so the mount is 1/2' shorter than the normal LT-150 that others have mentioned.

This QD mount for the Aimpoint Comp M2 is 1/2" shorter than the standard Comp M2 mount to fit a RAS II. It has a 30mm ring and hard-locks to any Picatinny rail.
The LT152 positions the centerline of the optic 1.20" above the top of the rail.
Also want to add that it fits the PRO (same body as Comp M2), which is what I use it for.
