I've got a smith, but sadly it doesn't have ENT behind it

 

I ran a Smith Ent. receiver on my M14NM rifle from 1986 until I sold it about 20 years ago so I could get serious about shooting an AR for competition. It wasn't a mistake exactly, but I switched back to an M14 after a short time. I did get my Distinguished badge with that SEI rifle. I built it as a rear lug gun with a Krieger barrel and McMillan stock. It was the best receiver available at the time.

They are beautiful and well made, can't take that away from them!

 

I made them (Smith Ent.) mad once. They told me they would never answer my questions again. I kind of feel bad about it and I don't even remember what it was over.

But I have that effect on people sometimes so I don't take it personal. 🤣

Sometimes (or with some people) it’s not about what you did, and is more about it just being your turn.

Don't feel bad about it. It happened a lot and you were not the problem.

 

Know that they are a popular receiver.

The more forged receiver manufacturers in the US the better.

 

Yeah, dude that runs the company is a total buttwipe.

 

They are way too heavy to run with.

 

I ran 4 miles in 59 minutes flat last Monday, a few of us old guys can still get it done.

Just to be clear Ted, the Smith Enterprise saga, or the 4-mile run?

 

They only made us run one mile in 11 minutes before prepping for the Rattle Battle. I am not a runner! it was run, load magazines, and be ready on the firing line. I was better as a coach.

 

When those SEI receiver’d rifles pop up on gun broker they’re insanely expensive….
I do have some SEI parts, they are great quality, but I’ve had one or two somewhat hostile interactions with the owner on some of the Facebook m14 groups for no reason other than that I was asking others for clarification on one of his parts.
