Not really.

Conclusion: Separating Fact from Fiction
The Kennesaw gun ordinance is a fascinating case study in the intersection of symbolism, public policy, and Second Amendment rights. While the ordinance encourages gun ownership, it’s vital to remember that it does not mandate it or penalize those who choose not to participate. Understanding the historical context, the intent behind the ordinance, and the lack of enforcement mechanisms is crucial to separating fact from fiction. Residents of Kennesaw are subject to the same state and federal gun laws as all other Georgians, and gun ownership remains a personal choice. Always prioritize safety, education, and responsible gun ownership when considering firearm ownership.

Above from The Gun Zone

I read other stories that do indeed says its required, however there are exemptions and it sounds like something thats not enforced.

I ended up having to live in California for a couple of years and it was miserable. I figured I would take a couple of bolt action rifles with me. California "legal" and it would give me something to shoot. I go to register them but nobody could do it. City said the MP's had to do it, they said state, they said I had to let housing know first, housing said I had to get a letter from command saying it was ok and nobody in the house was crazy or prohibited. They didn't know what letter housing was talking about and told me to just hide them in my closet until we PCS'ed out of the state. All that BS over a 91/30 and an 03 Springfield. I went back home to visit about 6 months in and just left them with my parents. Glad I did because we ended up PCSing to Hawaii next and I'm sure trying to get them to move a couple of dangerous unregistered assault relics probably would have ended badly for me. I will NEVER live in that state again.

I left California over twenty years ago because I wanted liberty. It was a good place to live in the 1980s but not anymore. One of the first things after I left the State that I did was pick up some full capacity magazines that I had ordered to Utah. It was nice to have multiple twenty round magazines.

Well, one thing is a fact about the city of Kennesaw in Georgia, private firearm ownership is very high in that city. Crime rate is low there as a result. Criminals go somewhere else or die doing what they do in Kennesaw. Predators look for prey, not armed citizens that can fight back.
