I've spent a little time in Bend and it's a great place to visit. The problem with living there is it is also very expensive. Redmond is close and a little more reasonable. It's crossed my mind that if I wanted to move up to that area I might consider Sisters if I could afford it. Nice little town and only 20 miles from Bend. Bend has some really good breweries.

 

We have made an offer and was accepted on a house in Northern Redmond. We’re just waiting for the lady to get the ball rolling so we can move forward. It’ll be my first time in a long time living in town and in a HOA. But I’ll take what I can get. I even got a job waiting for me. It’ll be delivering fuel, which is what I do now in Portland. Your based out of southern Oregon ain’t you? I’m pretty sure in the past you did some trigger work on my M1A.

COSSA has a nice range off Hwy 20.

 

If that is the Range about 10 miles out of town, it accommodates every shooting discipline you could possibly think of. I was visiting a buddy in Bend and went out to one of his SASS shoots. I was very impressed, it is well laid out in a very spacious manner. I do believe the long range targets extend out even beyond 1000 yards. The SASS area is set up really cool as well. Very clean organized range with great volunteers who keep it top notch.

 

You might want to go look around there before diving in. Bends population is over 105,000 and the infrastructure was intended for about 25,000. Redmond's population is around 38,000. But Bends expanded to the point that it's hard to tell if you're in Bend or Redmond. I will give it this though. Other than the Portland area Bend has some of the best medical facilities in Oregon.

 

Im excited to get out there and explore. Maybe get into hunting.

 

Ococho N.F. east of Prineville , brother in law killed a huge elk a few yrs back. I hear they got big elk in the Cascades , but they always went to Eastern side of the state, not as crowded and more likely to fill a tag

 

I'm in southern Oregon just outside of Jacksonville. I've been in Bend several times. One of the trips was to celebrate my twin grandsons 21st birthdays. Couldn't think of a better place to do that with all the cool breweries there. We spent a day exploring Smith Rock state Park. Lots of great hiking trails. It's also the home of Nosler bullets. While there are a lot of retired folks living in Bend, it is a fairly young population thanks to all the recreation venues and an excellent college.

 

Ah. So you did some work on my trigger for my rifle. Just wanna say you did a great job. Thank you. Yeah, the breweries is my wife’s thing. And I know there is a lot in that area. Gotta be better than a majority in the PDX area. I’m excited to go explore Smith Rock and the BLM area. Lots of new areas to explore.

 

Not until Oregon gets back to like 1990s Oregon. Damn hippies. But these days they're the least of their worries.

 

I recall the 90s Oregon, even though I was born 1985. I was born in Portland. My dad was a fireman for the City of Portland. And I have very good memory’s of him taking me and my brother into downtown to the little water park area, I believe it’s was near Pioneer Square right in down town. And even then, the whole “keep Portland weird” thing was still back then a unique and positive thing. It was in my opinion set us apart from other city’s. The city was clean and wonderful. People were polite, not destroying and tearing things down like they are now. Portland, Oregon is known as The City of Roses. Sadly, roses haven’t grown there in a very long time and it’s sad to have watched it get that way. I miss the old Portland.
