I would think the answer is yes. IMO, the -2 SAI op rods are actually very well made. The bolts and other parts should be interchangeable, just like the original M14…but I’ll defer to the builders with more experience.

 

FWIW I have gotten SAI bolts and o rods from forceman and have had him build at least one rifle with these parts along with USGI and have had no issues. I did change out the trigger and hammer for USGI ones. Maybe I've been lucky so far.

 

Well the “plan” for these would be drop in replacement just in case either my TRW bolt or rod came to an end too soon. Doubtful they would be used; but just in case.

 

You'd want to headspace the bolt properly if switched and usually the op rod does drop right in from my experience. Trigger groups not an issue.

What Grizz said. Strip your bolt and check your headspace with GO/NO GO gages. This should be S.O.P. anytime you change bolts.

SAI -2 oprods are excellent. I keep a spare on hand in case of emergency.

I wouldn't pay for a spare SAI trigger assembly. You can still find USGI.

Bolts seldom fair. I do keep USGI guts for them on hand.

 

My experience with maybe 15 rifles (only) is the SAI bolts marked F000… interchange with other bolts USGI with essentially no change in headspace. Same with op rods, the -2 SAI seem to fit well. But the guys on this site who build these have much more knowledge about this. And any other questions you have.

 

OP rods HAVE to be fitted.
