In 1982 Springfield Armory offered the 1 of 100 made rifles, they took every 100 number ser#( starting with 100,200,300and so on) and held the recievers till they had the 100 one and then offer them for sale @ $849.00.

Am I missing something here or is the DOD cartouche on the wrong side of the stock?

 

No, you're not hallucinating. I thought maybe that's what SAI was hyping with the 1 in 100, like it's an upside-down air mail stamp. Just proves SAI did have some DAS dies or facsimiles.

 

There is another DOD stamp on the bottom of the rear handgrip on his rifle. Same stamp. And it has a TRW bolt.

 

SA produced several special runs of the M1A. One was the Even Thousand serial number series. They were standard models with blued finish and a nice walnut stock that included a medalion. I think they were made in 1993 and could not have included more than 65 rifles at the time.
