I'm in need of Early M1 Carbine front sling swivel that attaches to stock & holds handguard in place. Its for an Underwood without the bayonet lug. A Type 1 I believe. $25 plus shipping?
According to this website there were three types of barrel bands.
1st Early prior to 1944.
2nd 1944 and later
3rd was the bayonet type.
The swivels also changed a few times.
Maybe this website can help identify which one you are looking for.
The type 1 did not swivel. You set it where you could sling arms, then tighten the screw tight. If you let it slightly loose to move, the barreled action would be loose in the stock. This was told to me by my late father-in-law. He was in the intelligence and reconnaissance platoon in Italy with the 352 Inf Regiment, 88th Infantry Division "Blue Devils". They were the first all draftee division to see combat. -Lloyd 🍻
