i have a few M1As and on some, the op rod has some noticeable play, or wobble when resting the op rod track, while others have almost zero play and the op rod seems to have a tight fight in the op rod track. or maybe it is a tighter fit to the bolt?

why is this? is it the quality of the op rod? is it the quality of the bolt roller? is wobble bad? does this effect my groups.

sorry if this is a newbie question.

It most likely is from the op rod tabs being worn. Some more than others. If the op rods don't jump out of the track while shooting, I wouldn't worry about it. They do need wiggle room in the track.

A little movement is okay. A lot means something is worn.

Op rod or bolt roller/bolt and may need to be replaced.

When you fix it is up to you.

so if they do need wiggle room in the track........is it bad for the op rod to be tight. i have one that doesnt wiggle at all. it fits tight as a glove.
