Went to the range today at 3:30pm temp 33 F no wind and drizzling rain. Actual a very nice time out today. Forgot to take pics sorry but I was shooting and average of 3moa. My last two 5round groups were under 1.5in. Warmed up with some pmc and then moved on to FGMM 168.

This was my second time out with a new piston in my rifle I put a new sadlak non grooved piston in. Shifted my point of impact up 3in At 100yards. Is this a common occurrence? Plus when I do the tilt test the piston is very slow to fall all the way down.

Also I was having trouble adapting to my clothes I was wearing. I was having trouble getting a good shoulder position with the jacket I was wearing which was frustrating. I ended taking it off on the last two groups I shot and I had my best groups with out my jacket. Overall I need to re zero my scope again I was aiming with the first mil dot above the cross air when shooting......

Need to get that fixed before I start my new gun project otherwise I will forget about it until I shoot her again.

I applaud your energy and enthusiasm! Good for you. I'm dealing with below zero temps at night, a foot of snow, and 20mph winds. I'm not inspired to get out and shoot. :-(

Colder out here in balmy WA state today than you had! I was at the range in Bellingham and it was about 27F but sunny and breezy. About 6 inches of snow still on the ground too. My shooting was just so so too, though I can blame some of that on the bright sun and a scope mount coming loose. Still learning about this LRB. Like you I was having a bit of trouble with too much clothing, long johns, heavy coat etc. All alibi's aside I have shot better but when I finished up it was putting both ball and one last handload into about 2 inches. This rifle seems to like ball ammo pretty well. All told I went thru about 75 rds. It was still a blast even with issues.

The piston is falling slower in the tilt test because it fits the gas cylinder better, it's OD is slightly bigger and tighter in there, allowing less air to pass as it travels. 3" POI shift seems a little much but some guys with more rifles than I had might have seen that much, make sure it is the same the next few times you go out. Muzzle devices can also change the POI as well, I have seen 2'' shift from a swap though. I shot well in the rain the last time I went, I was hitting steel well at about 700 yards with irons with MikeM0331 a couple years ago. Sounds like you had a nice day!

The shift is a little concerning. still shooting decently though.

As long as your shift in POI is consistent, just make a sighting adjustment and go with it. Piston fit definitely has an influence on accuracy. A few more range trips can give you more definition. Smart thinking to shoot in various weather and temperature conditions.

We have temps not expected to rise much above 80f today! And a 20% chance of rain as well! Might only get up to 72f on Friday! Boy I hate this winter weather. But I wouldn't let it stop me from going to the range if can get off work. GI6
