Why is my American made Springfield M1A Standard equiped with a rear sight that reads in meters? Its the only thing I don't like about it. How do I fix it?

Is there some advantage to sights calibrated in meters?

M14 elevation knobs were calibrated in meters. M1 Garand knobs were calibrated in yards.

Either will work for you, but your elevation knob is correct for an M14 type rifle. I think both of my rifles have Garand elevation pinions. Makes no difference to me.

Your M14 sight is in meters 'cuz the rifle shoots metric ammo: 7.62mm NATO. 8)

The Army has been metric for more than 50 years. My Gawd, even the maps are scaled in meters. All weapons sights are calibrated in meters, even our American-made M1A2 Tanks.
