USS Belleau Wood LHA-3. 02/1980 - 05/1983. Data Processing Tech (DP)
Homeport San Diego, CA

Two West Pac. Lots of Marines.

USS Yosemite AD-19. 11/85 - 03/89
Homeport Mayport, FL

Two Med Cruises. Both travelled thru Suez Canal, ending up in Diego Garcia in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

Both sunk for target practice and wildlife habitat.

I got lucky and never got seasick. Lots of "channel fever"

On my second WestPac / IO in 82-83 we stopped at Diego Gacria to resupply. While that was going on , the entire BLT was taken ashore for a forced march, that was supposed to be followed by hot dogs, hamburgers and 2 beers per man on the beach, then return to ship. Somehow, we were landed on the wrong beach, and the forced march doubled in length. By the time we got to the food and beer, it was raining, the food was cold and soggy, and the beer was warm. We were told we'd get driven back to where we started, but not till the next morning. was not a pleasant night.

USS Inchon (LPH-12)
2 Med cruises
The first mine sweeping the Suez Canal, we off loaded the Marine helicopter squadron to Siganella Sicily.
The second cruise The Navy squadron, I seem to remember it was HM-12 out of Norfolk swept outside the entrance to the canal.
I was a Marine avionics technician assigned to ships company (AIMD).
I last saw it at the navy yard in Philly being prepared to be used as a target and sunk off the coast of Virginia.

How did the Ticonderoga become CV18? When I was aboard her she was CVA14 in 1957.
