Ordered a couple of stock sets from Wenig recently - a "standard" grade American Walnut set for the Model 12 shotgun I'm having refinished for my Dad, and a "medium-fancy" grade American Walnut M1A set for one of my LRB M14SA rifles.

The model 12 stock set arrived today:

I've got a lot of work ahead of me with this stock set, but if this is standard grade, then I can't wait to see what medium-fancy looks like!

The M1A stock shipped today & I should have it by the end of the week.

Yup, it's a pretty piece of walnut, very rough around the pistol grip area though - it's going to take a lot of work.

delloro: I intend to finish it with deft danish oil. Hopefully it will turn out well.

Nice very cool to do that for your dad. From what I have seen you do to wood finishing in the past dad will have big grin on his face.

Evenin Quag,

That is gonna be one pretty stock, that grain is awesome, that oil finish will really bring it out.
Your dad will be really proud of that stock.
