Well, I did it. Don’t trust Remington. I bought a Howa 24 inch heavy barrel.

Just bought a new company Remington 700 sps tactical and so far no problems but you will certainly be happy with a Howa, they are good rifles!

We have a 10 day wait for all but long guns. All Semi auto rifles and handguns must wait.

I bought a Howa Axiom Varminter in .308 and put it in a B&C stock and I actually put more $ into the glass than I paid for the rifle ($250) from a guy who said it was too heavy and he'd ran 4 rounds through it. I only can shoot out to 600 , but it's MOA all day ! My Remmie 700 is 22" 30-06.

Found a good deal on a Leupold VX Freedom 4x12x40 with CDS dials. Came with Leupold rings, $328 shipped. I will be shooting max 600 yards! L8899#

Maybe it’s my eyes but that scope looks canted in the mount.

I won a Howa 1500 in 308 a yr ago. Very accurate for 3 shots. But can't get a 5 shot group from it no matter what I load. shot 4 will leave 1 in @ 11 o'clock and shot 5 @ will print 1 in out @ 1 o'clock. For a hunting rifle for me it's fine. Can't remember the last time I need more than 2 shots on game. Howa's 3 shot sub moa guarantee is good only if you follow the barrel break in directions posted on the website. If not followed no warranty. Still a good rifle and handles well
I took off the Niko Sterling scope and replaced it with a Vortex 3x9.

After seeing one on nf1e's bench, I decided I needed a digital level. Reads to the tenth of a degree, and works great for aligning the scope to the rifle - if you have the patience. Use if for almost everything now, but that tenth of a degree can be frustrating if you want it perfect...

This is the one I have, but there are plenty of others out there -

I bought a Howa action in .243. I pulled the barrel and machined another from a Heavy profile Shileen barrel and chambered it in 308. I even finished a poorly made inletted stock in walnut. The barrel and action were blued by me. But the rifle currently sits in a bell carlson stock and I still have to break in the rifle after 2 years. I feel ashamed of myself. I really like the rifle. My goal is try to wear it out.

It's a SS med sport so probably 5/8 at the muzzle. More than likely there are stresses in the barrel. Like one gunsmith told me " it's the 3 shot guarantee that counts".

since when did they start a waiting period on long guns. I was raised out there and the last hand gun I bought was in 83 and it was a 15 day waiting period. here in NC there's no waiting period but to buy a hand gun you need to get a pistol permit which takes about 5 days unless you have a ccw which I got so when I go into a shop and see something I like all I have to do is give them my permit fill out the paper work pay the man and walk out
