You'd be surprised how often they check ammo, they have magnets all over and just walk by and check randomly.
Yes. The bullet Nazi's are at all the ranges with magnets to check your bullets. Some are real d_cks . If the bullets are magnetic they ask you to not shoot or buy their lead ammo at exorbitant prices. It is getting expensive to just plink at the range. Too many rules. Shooting is becoming a costly sport. Especially in California. They say the Department of Forestry has bans on FMJ/Steel Ammo due to fire danger and there is a $5000 fine. Too many laws. I guess nobody notices. Getting fed up.

I may be interested. I have family down south that I could visit, and take off for a day to shoot. I work, but have some vacation days left over for this year. Given enough lead time notice I may be able to get some time off to meet some of the guys. I'm a relative newbie, so would appreciate meeting some veterans of the M-14/M1A platform. My folks are in San Fernando Valley. I'm up the Coast 150 miles from them. Keep us posted.

Black Friday certainly is an idea, but I caution doing anything in or near the City of Angeles when the masses are not either working or standing in some type of entitlement line seeking their handout. Black Friday is usually considered a holiday for many and that could well translate into a full range....perhaps this issue can be overcome by reserving a section of the range for private exclusive use?? Barring that exception....

I would suggest we choose a day mid week and specifically not around a holiday. Granted we may loose some M14 dedicated shooters to the plague called work but the masses are not to be underestimated. My experience has been the masses are rude, inexperienced and pumped full of testosterone trying to impress that double breasted mattress thrasher that accompanied them to the range. I see my myself avoiding this event if it is scheduled at a time convenient to the masses.

My vote would be a Thursday, date of your choosing. NoExpert you might want to post the range hours since many, myself included will be traveling for a long distance.

Very very very true......the masses are all that and then some......double breasted mattress thrasher......LOLDI2. That is the best description for certain split tails. Week days are always the best, holidays and weekends are way toooooo crowded and full of a-holes, especially the south of the border 5 ft nothin' types who will arrive, stand next to you to shoot and have the cojones to ask you to scoot over, wtf is wrong with them. They must not realize that were armed and focused on what were doing.....I just ignore the little maricones and keep shooting after a quick up and down stare in their general direction. They should know better than to do that, guess they've never seen a pissed off Cuban before. DI5 Semper Fi

Good idea there......Or the original OP could send out a PM to each who expressed an interest in the range meeting.
Good point M1Jerm.

Perhaps this forum should create a "private" sub-forum for range meetings.

me too. It looks like I will have a very nice business opportunity in San Diego. I may leave my guns in AZ and rent there temporarily.

I will take my Tokarev 7.62X25 if the nine (9) shot mag is still legal there. The last I heard it was. Technically it is a Yugo M57, but I prefer to just call it my TOK.

Well, there is a CMP GSM match on Nov. 20th at Camp Pendleton.
That's a chance to meet folks and shoot your M14 types as well as anything else that qualifies.
You'll probably see Smoothy and myself there with our M14s and you will get to meet a fair number of SoCal competition shooters to boot. Oceanside is full of decent craft brew pubs too. Sometimes they crank up the grill for a few hot dogs after the shoot out there as well.
Just saying, its all there gents.

You will need to pre-register to get on base, but anyone can do it.
