Cruising the net for M14/M1A stuff, I ran across Vented Gas Plugs made by Schuster. It seems to me that there can be two outcomes to a idea like this.....................

#1 you may not have enough pressure and the rifle WILL NOT cycle

OR

#2 the rifle WILL cycle and it would be a lot easier in the whole rifle

It may all depend on the size of the gas hole in the barrel
Any Way: anybody had any expierence with these things
Give me your opinion please.:D

The only thing I can see that that would is cushion how fast the pressure builds. As far as actual push on the piston it should be controled by the bore size of the piston and that ,of course , does not change. The whole idea of the thing seems to be to slow down the cycling rate of the rifle which would add to the rifle's life. (if ya' think its going to wear out that fast anyway)

I think the real object in mind here is accuracy.

If you slow down the cycling of the action, then you ensure that the bullet has left the barrel before the action cycles. this should increase the accuracy of the rifle, right?

You'er right: I think accuracy may be their goal. They are mentioning the harmonics of the barrel.
