Since I am new to reloading M1A, I have taken Zediker's advice:
The staple M14 bullet was (still is, in a way) the Sierra® #2200. This 168gr bullet is the first to try: if this bullet doesn’t shoot in your rifle, the weapon is cursed. More than I know anything else in life, stick 41.5gr H4895 in an IMI® case with a CCI® BR2TM primer and cap it with a #2200 to 2.800 inches oal. Done and done.

So, does anyone have measured velocity data for this load in the M1A? Just wondering for my eduction. Thanks.

In the 2600 FPS range with a full sized M1A.

If you are going to be playing around a lot a Shooting Crony (with remote readout) is for you.

Between 2600 and 2640fps, 41.5gr of either IMR/H-4895 @ 2.80-2.82 coal in a mil-spec case is my go to load with just about any 168 projo's however I run WLR primers.

If you decide to get a chronograph take a look at the MagnetoSpeed Sporter Chronograph. I replaced my Shooting Crony with one last year and the MagnetoSpeed is easier to use and seems to be just as consistent as the Crony. Just strap the thing on your barrel, plug in the display and you are ready to go. I could not use the Crony at the range I go to, there was an overhead roof that extended 20 past the firing line and I did not get enough light to operate the Crony.

I have heard that attaching it can shift your POI but I think that is coming from the sub-MOA crowd, I don't see it in my 2-3 MOA "Groups".

Anyone have a go to load like this for the Nosler 155 CC with H4895 and or IMR4064? I also have 8# of Ramshot TAC, but I would bet I'll get better accuracy from the other two powders. I have a box of Nosler 168s, but I have 1000 155s.

As far a chronographs go, I've had a Shooting Crony for the past 15 years and it's still going strong. I second the advice to get one with the remote readout, it's very handy. Glad to hear the Magneto Speed works well; if I was in the market and had the money, that's what I would buy. Much easier set up than the Shooting Crony.

I never had much luck with the 155's from the big makers, however Tonyben cranked off a quick group of 5 under a 1 1/2 @ 100yds with some leftovers I had. Sorry I don't remember the load data, I know not what you wanted too hear......

In my 7.62 M1 and 155 B hybrids LC case, 43.5 IMR, or 43.0 H @ 2.80 Coal is a sweet load that shoots inside my 168 loads.
