Anyone got a guy? I am looking to swap my Springfield flash hider for one with a bayonet lug and possibly swapping a barrel/bolt.

I've called around but nobody really seems to have the tools.

Thanks in advance.

Matt, I have the tools. I would be more than happy to help you out. I have swapped mine out several times. I will send a PM with my contact info.

I can vouch for Stickboy's abilities, and he's a picky kind of guy so you don't have to worry about the quality of his work.

Wow that's a formal invite from Rick, those don't come around too often so Jeff I'd take him up on that.

To answer your question about a gunsmith, the last one I knew of in utah was Guy Momberg of Lock Stock and Barrel but he passed away a few years ago. He was a master gunsmith too which isn't easy to replace these days. If stickboy can do the barrel and bolt swap I'd trust him. He is a great guy and has some nice toys he tinkers with. In fact I might just have him help me if he's up to it.

Matt, I missed the part about the barrel and bolt. I don't have the tools for that job, but I do know a Smith that could do it if he is still around.

I do have the tools for the flash hider though.

Thanks RAMMAC and Mr Shmitty, I appreciate the compliments. I will have to see what I can do about vacation time.

Appreciate the replies everyone! The bolt and barrel will probably be down the road but the flash hider with a lug is the big thing right now.

I actually bought the Springfield kit with the tool but that puppy does not want to come loose.

I hope you all have a good weekend and thank you for the PM, Stick. I will be in touch probably tomorrow.

sometimes you have to head up that castle nut to get it off especially if they timed it. Also make sure that small allen head is completely out. If you need my help let me know.

Thank you everyone who offered up help. Love the generosity from the M14 community here locally and overall on this forum.

Jeff is the man and got the nuts loose on my loaded and my father's scout. I can not even believe how tight those come from Springfield.

Thanks again so very much, Jeff.
