I am trying to figure something out. I see some Springfield parts marked SA and some are marked SAK. What if anything is the difference ? I also assume these are made by the "real" Springfield. Is this correct ? Thanks.

Military parts marked SA are from the government Springfield Armory. SAK parts are from Saco-Lowell a subcontractor of government parts. Parts marked SAK include the barrel and operating rod. They made other parts as well, but not marked.

How do you know if it is SAI commercial or old usgi SA?
By the orientation and placement of the lettering.

I can't recall the exact stamping unless I go look at the parts, but SAI parts as I recall have the following; the op rods has "-2" after the bin number, the trigger group has a "-0" and the bolts have "F" on the second line for forged.
