US Optics SN-12

I have read all about ACOG,Aimpoint,Elcan,IOR and many others on this site. I am considering getting a USO SN-12. Fixed 4x,4" eye relief, 4 reticle choices and BDC for .223 or .308. Is there something I should know before I buy? If I don't get that then it's the Loopy MRT. Kind of want to go fixed because I rarely play with the 4.5-14x50 on my 300 win mag Rem PSS.

Thanks-

I can only attest to the ST-10, of which I have 2.

The optics are good, but overrated. Much better than Leupold, but not close to Zeiss or Swarovski.

But the reason to mount a USO is because it is an absolute tank - no other scope built like it, including IOR and S&B. Only the IOR is almost as rugged.

Now, here is my gripe against USO: The eye relief is nowhere near the 3.5"-3.75" stated specs! And the eye relief focal range is extremely small. If you mount a Zeiss or Swarovski, you can slide the thing forward and back all day long and still have tons of range to get good eye relief. The USO will give you a small zone, that's it.

I'll buy a USO only if severe service is higher on the list than user friendliness.
Thanks for the feedback. I was wondering if anyone was going to get back to me. The scope sounds great as far as options and specs go. I want my loaded standard to be a 50-400yd shooter. So a fixed 4x sounded good to me for those requirements. No battery to run out and no radioactive stuff to fade over time like ACOG. Plus I have found that once I dialed in my PSS I rarely play with the magnification. Now if SAGE EBR's were only legal in CA I would be set.
Oh yeah and USO is literally a 5 minute drive from my house. Even ran into John Jr. at a local bar...
Shooter, please let us know how that SN-12 works out if you get one.

I would get the illuminated reticle! The basic function of the scope won't be battery dependent, but you will make your rifle so much more versatile with it.
And when you buy any USO, get the flip-up covers from them so you won't have to go scrounging for the right size, which invariably the local gun stores will not have.
You won't break that scope.
You might want to consider the new slim model sn4 they just came out with. The weight is down to same as sn12, plus a little better option for 50-400 yd shooting. I have 4 uso scopes, and was going to go with the sn12 like you, to put on my crazy horse build. Now that the new sn4 is the same weight...... 8)
Thanks for the info Ax,

The SN-4 is the variable 1-4x correct? If so that adds about 3-$400 to the already some what spendy SN-12.
It's officially ordered! I went with the variable SN-4 1-4x with lit circle chevron reticle. Thanks to those who gave feedback...

1856Shooter; hopefully they gave you the group buy deal they have running on ar15.com :D .. it's a killer price. Also, in a couple of mo's they will have the new 2x doubler available. With this you can screw it on the front and turn it into a 2-8x if you need more magnification.
Yeah, I got that deal....drove down there and gave them my deposit. About a 5 min drive from my house.
