Town Of Brookhaven Range Question

Shoot mainly at the Ridge Range, or Drive In Range as I call it. At the Brookhaven range when I called last year to inquire about restrictions, the fellow said that rifles were limited to five round magazines. This puts me in a jam since I usually shoot my M14 Poly/USGI with USGI preban mags of twenty rounds, do have CMI of ten rounds and my M1Garand with the standard eight round clip. Also have M1Carbine with fifteen round USGI preban mags. Will this be a problem or did I get a misinformed person. Have target 22 rimfire and bolt action 223s which would be OK but would like to shoot my military stuff.

Your good to go with a higher capacity mag as long as it is a legal preban. I drag my GI 20 rounders out there from time to time. Mostly I bring the cmi ten rounders
loaded up. I saw on the king island firearms forum where two guys were recently busted out there for having 30 rounders for there AR-15's. Just don't get silly like that and you will be ok.

that is why i do not go to that range.i understand you dont want rapid firing rambo types, but if its legal in this state i should be allowed to use it as long as i am being a safe shooter.mini rant over.
Maybe you misunderstood my post. You can use whatever is legal. Yes you can't rapid fire but you find they at most ranges on the island. It's the twin implementing the will of the neighboring communities not the range officers. If you want to go hog wild go to calverton. I have not been there since I got hit by a ricochet 32 years ago. From wha I have heard they are even cleaning up there act. Shooting rapid fire is fun once. After that its a waste of ammo. I'm one of those retards that likes to chase the x ring. Slower the better for me. I feel safe at they range but it is very restrictive. That's why I started competing with the long island high power league. I get to shoot at peconic river sportsmans club and from positions.
Bring all the preban mags you want to the range just don't bring any that are illegal leave them at home.
you cant rapid fire at calverton either.i too think its a waste of ammo.my comment was aimed more at the 30 rd ar-15 mag part. i too only had one of those the last time i went to brookhaven and was told to not even bother. i told the ro i would galdly load only 5 rds at a time, but that was not good enough for him.hence the last time i went there.
I would suggest for you to go to Calverton. but it's to crowded already!

Brillant idea! But if Johny law is there you will still get the same treatment.

funny but brookhaven's never a problem for me. and my pre ban mags
You can shoot with whatever mags and weapons you want. No Silhouette targets is the only rule. I go there often and know many peoples there.
Had no idea that there were this many members from Long Island. I go to the range and meet up with Visigoth9 and Blown46. Any chance you guys want to start a long island member email list to try and make range trips together? Send me a pm if you are interested. I am always looking to meet forum members.
