Aloha...

This is my targets...

This is my gun!

It was just for shooting...
But a whole lot of fun!
(Trying to make a Rhyme! )

Anyway, this is my pre-ban Super Match that I have been working on for a while. I was not happy with the first bedding job by using the "fulcrum" method, so I switched and I am stoked with the results!

The targets were shot with M118LR ammo. The first target was shot with a cold barrel. But already I could see an improvement over the last time I shot the rifle. The two shot flyers is my fault. I shot three looked throught the spotting scope then shot two more... the shots on the upper left were the last two shots.

The second target is three shots. I was so stoked with the first three shots and the group that I chickened out and did not shoot two more to make a "man" sized group!

As soon as I was satisfied that this rifle could shoot, I took the scope, bipod and cheekrest off! Open sights I was hitting steel plates out to 430 yds. with confidence. It helped that the wind was very still on Sunday!

Overall I am very happy with the way this rifle turned out!

Thanks for letting me share some of these pics! I was waiting to get a chance to post these pics!

Aloha,

Tom O.

Spike

PS: What's that crest on your stock say?
Very cool Tom, we should start calling you dead-eye! :D
Aloha Everyone!

Thanks for the kind words! And it is very much appreciated!

Spikenfritz: I used a Tasco SS 10X scope for accuracy proofing... the Tasco performed really well.

As for the moniker on the buttstock...

It says "NRA - Armed with Pride!"

That's darn good shootin there Tom.
It feels good when it shoots like ya want, after you get the work done huh?

Remind me to wear my kevlar helmet when I go outside.

Hey Tom, looks like your getting the hang of it. :p :p :p
Thanks Warbird/MiloMaker...

Yep, it does feel good that I assembled and honed this "puppy"! The only part that I didn't do was the barrel to receiver assembly.

Warbird, I would be embarassesed to tell you some of the things I tried. But the end result was an action that is like riding on ball bearings with very little wear to the bolt and op rod. Alignment and mating is about as close as I can get it.

Pretty stoked about it but it did take a while working on the rifle when I could. So fit, function and accuracy is there... now I feel like I accomplished something.

The next project will be to get a Loaded to be all NM and be able to shoot like a Match gun!

Sorry to be so chatty... I guess I am still jazzed!

Aloha,

Tom O.

Good shootin' and nice looking rifle. Steel plates at 430 yards? I didn't think that the Koko Head range went out that far. I also didn't think that the wind ever stopped blowing around there either. You mean "very still" as in under 30mph, right?
Amazing rifle and some amazing shooting, Tom.

Congrats on both.

Hi TEA...

Yeah, Koko Head has hanging steel plates at 200, 300 and 430 or 440 yds and a metal deer at 250 yds. It has been more fun and interesting shooting the steel than the paper targets.

A couple of the fellas with the "heavy" magnums have done serious damage to the steel already! But the silhouette folks keep repairing the targets from time to time.

Next time you're in Hawaii, you should check it out! More fun than the paper targets for sure!

Aloha,

Tom O.
I should be back in the islands a couple of times this summer. I'll give you a heads up.
Looks like fun wah had on the island.

Good shooting with a hand fitted gun.
Did I detect a little pride in your post.
