so I purchase a new M1A Standard in a synthetic stock. Regretted the stock within minutes of getting home. Bought a beautiful Birch stock from Fred`s. Cleaned and stripped it down and found a sweet blondie under the years of age. Put a vented hand guard on it as well now just want to change the castrated flash suppressor for one with a bayonet lug and I think she will be fine. I know some will not like the light color but she is mine and I think she is awful Purdy. I say this GI is just ready for leave or parade.

I think I will keep her. She is an incredible shooter for a Standard. I haven`t tried her in the new stock though I think it should be even better.

I have always liked the light color. I love maple. I made a set of tigerstripe Maple grips for a 1911 Remington Rand .45 I had. Looked great on the dark gun.

My favorite platform by far in any military rifles or battle rifles when the life is on the line. I grew up shooting these and it took me years to have any respect for the AR platform I had to use. Nothing like the power of a 30 cal for distance nor the classic look of real rifles, with wood stocks and blued metal.

She is a great shooter she does better than me about 1.75" at 100 from a rest and 3-4" standing with more practice I hope to improve that!!

Fred`s has been a great source for parts got that great stock with Perfect DOD and Proof marks only 1 ding that could not be removed. got (2) perfect hand guards 1 vented 1 not. Now I plan on adding my own patina none of my firearms are safe queens. it`s too crowded in there anyway to keep it looking good. but I am so addicted to shooting this rifle I am neglecting my others.
