This one was "lightened-up"- just broke my heart to see it like this.

Wood Door Fixture Metal Gas

Wood Shotgun Air gun Trigger Creative arts

Wood Material property Gas Rectangle Font

Brown Wood Shotgun Gun accessory Metal

I also have a surplus 1917 with the similar "chop-mod" done to the fore-end, but it's not as hideous as the SMLE. The rear sight was ground off and replaced with a barrel-mounted Marbles rear sight, and it has some "checkering" done to the grip area (if you even dare call it that). It's not really worth anything anymore other than sentimental value, seeing as it was that way when my Step-Grandad got it as a young man, and my Step-Dad used it as a hunting rifle for a lot of years. I don't have pictures of it, nor do I even want to post pictures of it.

Guess I'll add another Enfield #1. Price now is more like $1600. View attachment 505196
Since it was already butchered, I sourced new wood for mine and found all the correct missing front end parts. It's sort of one of those weird "amalgamation" type ones that was re-fitted a couple times. I believe it was one of the "Irish" sold rifles that was surplussed. It has really early features like the floating charger guide and volley sights, but the later rear sights and sight ears. It still had the original upper rear handguard, which was armory modified so you could actually see the new style sights.

I take full responsibility for this monstrosity. I assembled it as a training aide and while the receiver is a real serial numbered gun, I've never shot it. FWIW it hand cycles. WMD was kind enough to furnish the colored bolt assemble. I found a gun guy to mill out and recoat the upper receiver. A forum member here sold me the working clear EOTech (originally a countertop sales demo). The gas block now has knurled cap screws securing it to the barrel. Gas block, barrel and hand guard are only screwed in hand tight and are easily removed to see details of assemble. Ammo is inert.

Brother Dougboffl: That one is not a "Bubbaed" rifle but has a discernable purpose for training and teaching others, especially yutes, about the AR system. To me, you did a good job. Keep up the good work.
