Admittedly, most of my favorite weapons of WW2 were made by the Germans!

The Flak 88, is one of them...

Hated by Bomber, and Tank Crews alike...

A very versatile weapon!

FLAK stood for "Flugabwehrkanone" which is German for "Anti Aircraft gun".

My dad who was a B26 pilot had absolutely nothing good to say about them. One a clear day they were like sitting ducks at the altitude he flew at.

The Cartridge or shell that it used to kill Tanks..

Looks to me like a big 30-06 rifle round, and...

I guess that was what it was, was a big rifle, so to speak.

The Germans used it in N. Africa and after capturing a Brit Tank Officer and he finding out...

The Germans were using a Anti Aircraft Gun, to kill Tanks with...

Informed the Germans, "That's not fair!"

Abwehr = Defense

Yes, did not get into mounting the Gun on the Tiger Tank!

Those American Sherman Tank Crews HAD to have big ones to go against those Tigers!
