Heh. It helps, but in this case doesn't entirely put me off since my choice of sights for the SOCOM is so thin to begin with.I don't know. However I have heard all Tech Sight stuff is made in China, if that helps with a decision.

The dovetail is the same. My understanding is that the SOCOM has a taller sight, the Scout has the next tallest, followed by the Standard.I dont own a SOCOM. Is the front sight base the same as a standard M14? I ordered a taller NM .062" front sight today made for a Scout length barrel after some adjustment problems on my full size. $41 direct from SAI though- ouch. May want to call them-
Yeah, it is a little odd looking. Might be neat to stick a fiber optic AR15 sight up front though.Get the front for the Scout, the two are supposed to be the same. You may want to change the rear also, that ghost ring is going to be really big with a standard width blade. Depending on the cost you might want to try the sight pictured, looks like a good idea although a little unusual in appearance.
