So, I have been playing around with Tac and the Sierra 135 gr jhp. This combo shoots very nicely in my M14s, but I have a limited supply of Tac so I am looking at using H4895. I noticed that on a burn rate chart they are right next to each other, and I have a good supply of H4895. Have any of you loaded H4895/135 jhp for your M14? I typically use Rl15, 4064, Tac, or Imr4895 for M14 loading but have not used H4895.

How much TAC are you talking about here?
I would think that you’d need quite a lot to fill the case.

I've shot a lot of H-4895 out of my M1A's usually on the Dot games using 41/42gr of it with 125/130gr Speer bullets mostly. Only 135's I've tried are the Sierra #2124 135gr hp that shot pretty good but I went the Speer 130gr route as they are cheaper when you can find them.

41/42 gr sounds like a good range. I recently bought some more of the Siera 135's (blems) at a pretty good price, but I will also give this a try with the 125 Speer TNT's.

I buy the 125 TNT's in 500rd boxes from Graf's usually but liked the 130gr #2500's as well but they seem to be out of stock everywhere...

I shot a good group with the TNT's today though... look at my range report

I've been loading 41 grains of Tac with the 125 SSTs for the M14 and FAL. I also like to use 40.5 grains of N135 or H4895. Nice light loads that cycle the M14 and mild in Spanish Mausers and 7.62 Enfields.
FALs have adjustable gas and aren't fussy. So I load to the M14 and just use the same load in the FAL. It's not like a FAL is ever going to match the M14's accuracy. The only restriction for using the same load in both rifles is that the FAL mags are a hair shorter than the M14 mags.

I've found IMR 3031 to work better for any bullet lighter than 150 gr. Tac is also an option, but you run the risk of "too much pressure" for the Oprod when you reach the optimal velocities for bullet.
