For storing long term a septic tank might be an idea.....
Who would think of a storage .......
Water tight and you know where it is ........

With some slight modifications, it sounds like a good idea. Just some thoughts: how much condensation would occur underground in a septic tank seasonally or otherwise? How thick are they and how much will they rust and/or decay over a long period of time? Just wondering cause I don't know much about septic tanks.

Modern septic tanks are generally plastic, so decay is a moot point. Steel ones last, well mine is 30 years old and still as solid as ever.

Best thing about a septic tank, is no one will open it if they think it is a septic tank, so anything stored inside is safe from prying eyes.
