Thursday it is. If Mercman is coming, I will go straight to the range around 0900 to grab some room. He will meet the rest at the normal Starbucks at 4 corners, I guess. If he is not coming, and I can figure out where the Starbuck's is, I will be there. At this point, it looks five of us. Based on previous years around here, I would like to try to be home sometime before 1500. I live in the war zone that the tribal casino becomes.

Hey, guys!! We are a go for July 4th! Thanks to airheadjb for getting this ball rolling! I will see those that want to meet at the Four Corners Starbucks at 0900. And it sounds like jb will be watching for us to show up at the range!!! I look forward to seeing you all there!

The lowdown for those that have not attended before:

The range place will be at the Cascade R&P club in Ravensdale WA. The shooting will begin at 0900 hours when the range opens. We will be meeting at the Four Corners Starbucks at the intersection of SR 169 (Maple Valley/Black Diamond Hwy) and the SE Kent Kangley Rd at about 0900-9030.

The Starbucks is in the Safeway parking lot area:

Don't worry if you don't have a M14 type rifle to shoot, there will be an abundance of rifles to shoot, people to meet and stories to be told by all

I will be heading to the range to arrive at or slightly before 0910. Will grab the five tables on the left. Not sure if the brother-in-law will be coming, yet. Something about his boat mechanic forgetting about the 4th. See you all there.

New member from Belfair, WA. Looking for people to help push the new Senate SBR bill in Olympia. I met with Representative Pedersen last month to talk him into giving the House SBR bill (HB1561) a hearing in 2014 but he probably won't due to the other gun bills dying in committee during the 2013 session. HB 1561 has 7 of 13 Judiciary members as co-sponsors, 14 of 32 co-sponsors are Democrats and the prime sponsor is also a Democrat. WACOPS is supporting the bill and WASPC is taking a neutral position like they both did for the silencer use bill back in 2011

Senator Hatfield has agreed to sponsor a Senate SBR bill (no number yet) and if it passes the Senate, Pedersen says he will probably give it a hearing in the House Judiciary Committee. So far I have only one other Senator committing as co-sponsor (Sheldon) with a few others who might be interested. I've e-mailed every Senator so far with only 7 replies. I sent out 41 letters to the ones who did not reply to my e-mails a few days ago.

Anyone interested in helping out?

Ranb,

Not sure that politics are a good subject for here, but...Can you pm me a list of the the reps that have signed on the house bill so I can make sure that mine are there? If not, I will speak to them. I will also speak to my senator. You may be running into a mindset that wants everything in the original bill included. Sometimes, the rights side of the argument takes an all or nothing approach, unlike the infringers who love to do us in increments.

Oh, welcome to the monkey house.

Well, ammo IS still somewhat hard to come by, but how many would like to have a get together anyway? If no 7.62X51 is available other long guns are acceptable. Any interest?

We had a great day at the Cascade Shooting Facility today. In attendance were airheadjb, Longeyes, Phil McGrath and myself. jb brought his grandson who banged away with a S&W 15-22 .22LR. jb brought his new Scout M14, Longeyes brought a nicely camoed scoped M14 with a QD suppressor mounted and Phil brought his new to him 22" M14. All had fun. I invited my ex-brother in law (knew him first!) and he shot my 7.62MM rx'd standard. It shot well for him and I think that he's hooked!!!

I mostly shot my 20" HBAR scoped AR15. I believe that I've come as far as I can with accuracy on it with the stock trigger.

Sorry guys but no pics this time. My bad I just airheaded.

News from Lakewood and Tacoma

First Surplus Ammo and Arms in Lakewood is closing out because of lease problems.

They invited me to visit Surplus Ammo and Arms in downtown Tacoma at 102 Puyallup, a block off of Pacific in the same building as Eagle Tire. I found the downtown store spacious and well stocked.

SOUTH AFRICAN BATTLE PACKS !! yes, at the Tacoma store. 140 rounds for $100. I only picked up one pack. I have lots of ammo, now I have more.
