does anybody know the specs for the 6 roll pins that go in the rifle? I have a couple of repair pin kits, but am not sure which pin is which. I identified the op rod guide pin, but the others I'm not sure. Does anyone have diameter and lenghth info that I can use to sort them out? Thanks, Taz

I see that the proper length pin for the cartridge clip guide is 9/16". I'm an M14 newbie putting together an LRB receiver with brand new CMP parts purchased years ago. The depth of the hole in the clip charger is 9/16", the depth of the hole in the receiver is 5/16" = 7/8". My way of thinking is use a 3/4" pin centered between both holes. I would like to hear an experienced M14 gunsmith's opinion on the 9/16" recommended length. Thank you.

The 9/16" length was not just the recommended length, but was the only length these pins came in from the GI/Federal Supply System. When installed correctly, they were plenty long.

You can put a longer pn in if you wish, but it will be harder to drive in place without messing it up and has no practical benefit.
The stripper clip guide is dovetailed into the receiver, it is held in place by this dovetail.
The joint or overlap between the stripper clip guide and the receiver is less than .015, the pin only has to cross the gap to keep the stripper clip guide from moving. Pin length beyond this distance is not needed. Having a slightly longer pin than the gap plus aids in install. The pin could be 3/8 inch in length or shorter, the only down side, hard to start and takes more time to make sure it is centered over the gap.

Longer pin length in this case is a not needed.
