Absolutely outstanding! Nothing beats wood & steel and if it’s got Winchester written on it, well that’s down my alley. She really looks good! Furniture looks in good shape and still a nice reddish color. I like it!

Beautiful piece of history! Must be a blast to shoot.
I did shoot it yesterday for the first time. Reminds me of shooting the Remington 8/81 semi auto rifles, very similar in recoil impulse as both are moving a lot of metal around. The bolt in this rifle is a big ass hunk of iron, built that way I guess to properly run the action.
All I had to shoot were handloads using 3 different powders with the same 200 gr jktd bullet.
All ran the action OK, but the top load in power using IMR4227 shot the best. The muzzle is worn so I wasnt really expecting much, but it took a while just to find the paper at 50 yards as the shots were all going high, by lots until I got the velocity up where it belongs.
I have some lead RN bullets coming which I think may help with grouping as they should 'slug up' a bit to help fill the bore better than hardnose bullets.
It is quite primitive all in all, and between the hard to load mags and the hard to action, it borders on a good workout!

I picked up a 1907 in .351wsl about a year ago. I did manage to find some loaded ammo for it, and have found info on making brass out of 5.56 nato brass. These are very interesting rifles for as old as they are.

Teddy Roosevelt was a big fan of your rifle for hunting.

OOps, sorry, wrong gun. Not the .401wsl, Teddy liked the .405 Winchester.

WaM14gunner,

You got me! I never even bothered to open this thread because I am not into ar15 type rifles and with the title of the thread I just passed over it.

Glad I took a look, I love these old weapons from way back in the day, when they built them out of steel and wood. You have a fine rifle there to go with the rest of the fine rifles you have!

Way cool.

Decided to work a little Google-Fu.

A bit chunky $$ wise and kinda new looking. At least you'll know what an original looks like: Lyman Receiver Sight No. 41 SL for Winchester Model 1905 & 1907 Like N

Always a tang peep option too: Lyman peep sight for winchester M-1905,1907,1910 rifles • $166.50.
