Rock Ridge, made in 2012, with the Hi-Lux 2.5x (3/4") scope. This rifle will hold 2 moa with M72 match ammunition. Since that ammo is getting hard to find (and expensive), today I used some reduced power handloads. Speer 100gr jacketed plinkers with 20 grains of IMR 4759.

It shot a cloverleaf at 50 yds and just over an inch at 100. Pretty accurate for just pennies a shot. :p

My brother used to use those Hornady 100 grain short jacketed bullets for ground hogs and crows in his sporterized M1917. I don't remember the powder he used but it was a reduced load. Good for 100 yds. or so, if I remember what he said. Oh, we always shot them in the head.

Great post. I have been pleasantly surprised how well my 03A3 and M14s shoots lighter bullets. I have been playing around with 135 to 125 gr speer and sierra bullets with H4895 reduced loads. I will eventually try reduced loads in my 03A4 clone. BTW my 03A4 clone is a RRA with a 2012 barrel, lots of fun to shoot.

Gorgeous rifle nF1e. I've been looking to pick up a reproduction 1903a4 myself. The more time that passes the more I get the urge just to build it myself but I'd hate to drill a good 1903a3 receiver.

I just brought up the 1903a4 rock ridge in the rotation.
So far its been very good. i even was getting more than fun giggle acuracy from 110 gn M1 carbine bullets with reduced loads of H4895 and 2400 powder.
i have some .310 cast bullets ready to load up for some 200 yard fun.

Try to find yourself some SR 4759. It only takes 20 grains to launch the lightweight pills. A pound goes a long way.

The Criterion Barrels shoot the 150gr hornaday FMJs really good off of AA4064. And the hornadays are about 0.19 a bullet. And I never met a .308 bore that didn’t like the little gaping hollow point 135 speers. If any of y’all are looking for 03-A4’s I think my old man might be cutting his Gibbs remake loose soon. He’s gonna keep the original though...😭😭 if y’all might know someone who’d be interested I can ask him for a price.

100 yd 10 rnd group fired recently from one of my M14s. 136 gr custom fb bullets over 45 gr of Varget in berdan case. Same load for the A4 works very well.

Very nice ! I have the same RR A4 , bought in in 2016 from AIM surplus. Stumbled upon it by total accident. I shoot 300/600 yd "Vintage Sniper" matches at my gun club. My barrel prefers the 168 MK or Nosler CC with 47gr of IMR4064 . If i'm having a good day, well supported off a solid rest and a rear bag I can hold about .9 MOA at 200 yds. I struggled when my rifle was brand new as I was observing some random fliers, but now that I have about 400 rounds fired I think the rifle fit integrity has taken a set . I get better consistency now. I keep reading about the really good accuracy of the 110ish gr bullets, i'll have to try these. Enjoy the rifle !

Can you get to the same result accuracy-wise with the lighter .30-cal pills using Accurate's 5744?

Anybody tried 5744 for reduced 03/A3/A4 loads?
