Just picked up my SOCOM II today and was going over it and getting acquainted with the controls. Out of the box the elevation knob turned freely, moving the peep sight up and down as expected, but the windage knob wouldn't turn at all. After searching around I found a suggestion to loosen the adjustment nut inside the adjustment knob with a screwdriver and try again. This worked for me and I was able to change the windage adjustment. What the post didn't say, however, was whether or not it was OK to leave the nut loose enough to be able to turn the knob, or if locking it back down was mandatory.

Tighten it down to the points where you cant turn the knob either your fingers then back it off one click. You want the knobs to be snug to keep them from movong while you shoot
