does anyone know if you can change calibers on sig p226's, what I'm meaning is if you have a 9mm gun can you put a 40s&w top on the frame and change the magazines to make a 40 caliber gun, and vise versa. Thanks

I'm not sure if you can switch from 9mm to .40S&W, but you can switch from .40S&W to .357 Sig. I bought one a few years ago and it came with those two barrels.

You can buy a factory caliber exchange kit from top gun supply which comes with a complete slide, barrel, recoil spring and mags. I use 9mm mags for 9 & 40 without issue. If you have a 40, you can just swap barrels with a 357 sig. If you have a 40 or 357, you can buy a 9mm conversion barrel from Bar-Sto, change the recoil spring and mags.

They sell 22lr caliber exchange kits too.

Can I convert my 9mm SiG to .357 SiG or .40SW.

Centerfire Kits (9mm,.357 & .40) are intended for use on .22 Classic Framed Pistols. Sig Sauer does not guarantee or advocate the use of .40/.357 kits on standard centerfire 9mm frames.

I do know folks who have factory .40S&W 229's that have installed 9mm Barsto barrels, and used 'em with no issues. I know of no one who has attempted to go from a 9mm to .40S&W/.357sig.

good to know, on the bright side the 226 9mm is a easy sell, the 40cal version is not as popular
