Cyber Monday sale was just to good to pass up.
Got a Sig P225-A1 Classic Carry, Model# 225A-9-BSS-CC
Redeemed it from the state sponsored purgatory yesterday.

The P225-A1 is a 9mm single stack, 8+1, "compact" DA/SA semi-auto pistol.
Comes with G-10 grips by Spaulding Composite Inc. Other versions have Hogue G-10 or wood grips.
Has the SRT trigger. And when Sig says "Short Reset Trigger" they really mean it.
Sights are Sig's SigLite night sights.
Came with three 8 round magazines instead of the normal two the other models come with.
And let's not forget the most important features... The racing stripes and Sig logo on the slide! GI2
Barrel is 3.6" and she weighs in ad 29 oz with empty magazine installed.

This model is not on Sig's website. It also looks to be less expensive than the other models I have seen.
Although the P225-A has the same numerals as the old P6/P225 pistols. This new version seems to have more in common with the P239 pistols.
One detraction are the magazines. The old P6/P225 and P239 magazines will not fit this pistol.
While the magazine body and follower look to be the same as P239 magazines, the base plates are totally different.

Got a bunch of ammo to break her in this weekend.
Will let you know how she does. This is my first DA/SA pistol, so it should prove interesting.

Thanks,
Glenn

I had and carried a 239 in 9mm for years it was a great shooting little pistol. I traded it for a 226r. Sometimes I wish I still had it. You have yourself a very fine pistol. Let us know how it shoots! The single action triggers on all of the Sig pistols I have shot where very impressive.

Congrats! on your new Sig.
I have a original German made P225 that I carry from time to time. It's a very nice and accurate gun.

Thank you Sir.

Got some snap-caps in her to practice.
Want to get some time in with the double action for the first shot.
The single action is quite impressive. The addition of the short reset trigger brings it up to pistol Nirvana! GI1

GeePee, nice acquisition. I'm also on SigTalk, and a lot of people love that model. Yes its large for a single stack, but it handles great, and has good controllability, and accuracy, compared to smaller models.

I've got a couple of it's ancestors, a '98 P225, and a '78 P6. I put the G-10 Hogues on the P225, and put the Short Reset Trigger Kits in both, plus Meprolight Tritium sights.

Thank you Sir!

Those are two beauties you have there.
Thanks for sharing the pictures. Good contrast between the old and the new.
Range trip is planned for tomorrow. Have plenty of ammo to feed her.

Thanks again,
Glenn

I've got a P6 that's my EDC, it's 100% reliable with 124 grain +P Gold Dots. Only thing that annoys me is that new mags must be made of unobtainium, I've got 2 factory Sig and a couple Pro-mags that fortunately have been GTG, despite Pro mag's horrendous reputation.

I happen to have a P6 that the previous owner had sent to Sig and completely checked and refurbished with all the mods you mentioned and even had them apply their two tone finish the slide. I will say that though I've never had a problem and since they were designed a 'service" pistol...they are known in Sig circles to be finicky about the type of HPs they will feed. Using 124 gr FMJs...they shoot all day...

Sig changed the feed ramps on all P6/P225 pistols made after 1989, so if it's post 90 you should be good to go. My P6 is marked 9/82 and I've had no issues with it feeding anything.

There's a guy down in the Wichita, KS area who is good with Sigs and can rework your barrel so it will feed anything you want, PM me is you want his name and contact #.

jaholder, try www.gunpartscorp.com they have some originals available, not cheap, but the last "New" Sig magazines I've found at a gun show were going for $55 each. Wolff has replacement springs available, get the 5% extra power, unless you are using a stiffer recoil spring, then you may need the 10% extra power if you have feeding problems.

donmor53, I haven't had any problems with either of mine feeding, any of the hollowpoints I have tried. I've used Federal 147 grain Hydra-Shoks for years, but recently have used the Hornady Critical Defense, and in the past used Black Hills and Hornady loads with the 124 grain XTP bullet without failure. As far as the older P6 barrels feed ramps, I've compared both of mine closely, and they appear identical, and the P6 barrel carries the same serial number as the rest of the gun.

Like I said...I haven't personally had that issue but know that many Sig owners have. Mine is dated 8/80 but...it has been refurbed by Sig for the previous owner.

Was able to get out this afternoon and get over 200 rounds through her.
On the second magazine, round 16, did not ignite. Ejected the round and it looked like it got a good primer strike. Put it back in the magazine and tried again and it did go off.
Not sure what happened, it was a commercial loaded cartridge.
No other issues after that.
Used 115 gr. FMJ's from PMC, Magtech and RPT. RPT was the brand that did not go off the first hit.
Also ran some hollow point ammunition.
Shot Federal 124 gr. Hydra-Shok, Hornady American Gunner 115 gr. XTP, and some handloaded H.P., 124 gr. JHP from RMR bullets and Choctaw Defense 115 gr. JHP that look like Hornady XTP's.

Accuracy was good when the guy behind the trigger paid attention.
Fighting a nasty sinus headache today. So really did not shoot my best.
I'm very happy with the pistol. Just need more time with her at the range.

Thanks
Glenn
