Yes. Looks like ‘hangers’ used upside down. And no blocking if it was actually designed by an engineer to be assembled like that.

I was wondering if the rafters are bearing on anything else out of the picture. Still not proper. You have to figure there are many other ways to properly achieve what they were going for than using upside down joist hangers.

I guess joist hangers do not come with warning tag "this side up".

I guess not. Come to think of it my shoes don't have instructions either.

Not for the one particular guy. I think there's going to be some back issues at some point.
