I have a SA M1A Scout rifle and I bought the Strike force illuminated 1-8x scope. but when i first bought the rifle i bought apparently a cheap mount. $40 maybe. Anyways I would like to know what brand most people mount. Also if there really a big difference in steel vs aluminum. I'm not trying to be cheap but Im also not in any sniper competitions
"leaning towards a SA aluminum"

PS the cheap mount was angled off to the right when i tried to install it so thats 40 wasting live and learn.

Sadlak, Bassett or ARMS would be the top choices. Steel would be my cup of tea, but some use aluminum and get away with it.

As a general rule, cheap and the M14 platform don't get along.

All the mounts listed by nf1e are good. I use the ARMS 18 and I really like it. I have nothing against a good aluminum mount, I chose the ARMS 18 because it is the lowest.

I have the Bassett low mount with pic rail. Rock solid and mounts up tight. They give you a special wrench to torque it correctly but it was easier for me to use a dedicated torque wrench calibrated for inch pounds to cinch it down correctly
