Sage DCSB is in my opinion the best way to mount a optic on a sage chassis. The clip guide mount can sometimes move and lose your zero from what I heard. I believe Larue makes a optic mount for the chassis too but haven't tried it yet. You can get a deal on a used DCSB when they come up for sale used.

Obviously I receiver with a built in rail is the preferred but.....

Agree on SageDCSB or the Larue. I've had both on different builds. I think the Sage is heavier and has more solid lock-up but the Larue has a better clamp and reported return to zero. I'll be checking that last part out on Wednesday at the range but the rest is accurate. The DCSB is a part that was designed to be installed and not removed often. The 608 is a work of art with Larue's usual fit and finish. Mine slides slightly fore and aft (about 1/16") on the pic rail when locked and tightened. I'll be adjusting that further before I shoot. The 608 doesn't come with a rear pin (which I like from the dcsb) but I haven't noticed any springboarding to make it necessary. Perfect world would be the DCSB steel and Larue's cams.

I shot at 300 with a previous build using the DCSB. Return to zero was less than 2", so you're still knocking down bad guys if you have to take it off for some reason. The 608 doesn't have the rear reference point to mount but it's Larue...probably straight and stiffer than a preacher.

Either of these solutions are better then most of the other methods available except for maybe removing the rear sight and replacing it with a rail block which I think is a bad idea.

Range on Wednesday and I'm now a sworn member of the Larueminati. Tightened up the cams and got a 1.5 and a 1.25, 5 round groups at 100yds, Winchester white box ammo. Took the 608 off, fired a few rounds and put it back on. Same size groups. Three 1.25, one at 1" and one 1.75 with one round AWOL. The point of impact shifted about 1/4" left after replacing but not enough to move the scope; it was probably just my shooting. Take out the two freak groups and this is way better than my day with the Sage DCSB. I inked the rail and the 608 didn't budge; neither did the DCSB for that matter. This was 100 yds, so not a real distance test, but enough for me. My gun is a SA NM with a Surefire flash hider, scope is a Mark4, 4-14 in Badger rings. YMMV but for an EBR, I'm pleased.

Running a Basset and the best of both worlds.
VERY good return to zero and iron sight clearance.

The SAGE is a good mount but zero can move if removing the top rail for service while the Bassett is receiver mounted and less impacted ( IMHO).

I did mill a tad amount of clearance on the Basset mount Vs nipping a rear rail segment.
