I contacted a very busy Ron Smith about 3 weeks ago to place my order for his companies EBR specific items.
All three showed up @ my door today 8)

A close up of the suppressor capable DC Vortex and the Dove Tail gas lock sight.

Extended bolt stop is pictured bottom right...

Thanks again Ron :D

SPIFFY!

I do have some other images just a click away on my

As for the range report - just under 200 rounds of Port last week.
The EOTech allowed me to quickly hit whatever I aimed at and I
experienced ZERO problems.

Guns and girls. You have the best of both worlds. Is she the little lady or a model?
SunRise, Very cool. Does Smith have whats pictured readily available or did you have to send him reciever to build that EBR. What I am getting at, I guess, is that baby a phone call away or do I have to send a rifle to him so he can make me one of those bad boys :p
You can make it yourself!

Thanks Steve, the rifle is my old SA, Inc., Scout that I purchased in 001.
You can use any medium weight barreled, single lugged rifle you choose.

I purchased the SAGE stock used. You can get one HERE.
Ask for Andrew or Josh and tell them Kevin sent you :)

You do not have to send your rifle off to anyone.
The SAGE is a true drop-in stock for anyone that can R&R a FS.
All the other add-on parts were ordered from various online suppliers.

I had to go with Smith for the final 3 EBR specific items because he is the only one that makes them for the Navy.
Take a look at my EBR web page and PM me if you need more information.

I hope you do put one together and compare it to your TROY in a biggest bang for your bucks side-by-side.

:D my young lady friend on her very first modeling job.
SunRise I noticed the stock is slightly different on the fore-end in the two pictures. Is one the older version the one with the slots. I like the one in the top picture with the rails. It seems to be the one offered on the site you gave.

Same stock and rifle in all of my pictures.
It's a work in progress and the pictures show it in different stages.
All in an effort to further enhance the rifle I have removed the side rail on the ejection side. I also cut a little more than an inch off of the OEM smooth
handguard to bring the forward pistol grip in closer. This required turning the grip around on the mount to locate the throw lever on the other side.
The more I shoot it the more I tweak it for smoother handling and balance.

Once I install the Smith EBR items, install one more sling swivel in the rear and my NEW sling I think I will be done - - for a now 8)
Interesting photos. I'm wondering about the top picture of the standard M1A FS set up. Is the photo reversed, is the NM sight mounted backwards, or is the marking on the wrong side?
Thanks for posting the vortex and gas ring dovetail set up. I have some in stock as well as the gas ring HK ring sight. Smith makes great quality products!

Great eye TED!

The sight is mounted bachwards
I have not used the irons since I put the rifle in the SAGE.
I use the EOTech 100% now. However, I will make sure it's correct on the Smith mount.
Are the threads on the gas lock sight cut to index at top center or may shimming be necessary ?
SA Scout

I recently purchased a scout and am doing the neat things that I hear on this board. I was at Ron Smith's today, I live in the same city, and picked up at Ron's suggestion a gas lock sight and Vortex Flash suppressor. I will try them at the range this weekend. Note while there I saw several crates of M1A sniper rifles all packed and heading for Iraq. These were beautiful with gas lock sights. Vortex FS and M-21 scope mounts. Scopes being supplied were Leopould Vari x III with a circle/Dot sight. God help the terrorists when those guns get to Iraq. Believe me it was a beautiful sight to see those guns.
