A couple of Rock-Ola M21 DMR receivers followed me home from Camp Perry this year along with Bula Forge med weight NM barrels and their new bolts. Over the last couple of days, they are now rifles. Looks like I am finally reaching the bottom of my parts collection.
I know that without photos, it didn't happen. They are temporarily in a couple of shop stocks and test fired today. The progression of photos will show some of fun of nailing these critter together.

1. Receivers unpacked and inspected.

2. Bolt lapping with 600 gr.

3. Barrel clamped in vise with resin on bearing surfaces and barrel paste applied to threads.

4. Receiver taped with painters tape , screwed onto receiver and receiver wrench tightened down.

5. Tighten receiver on barrel until indexed. With this set up we are within 1/10 of a degree.

6. Ream for headspace and add a few small parts to make a rifle. Yep, I screwed up. I got carried away with the reaming and forgot the camera. OOPs.

7. Next thing you know it's test firing time. That's the part I like the best.

8. Out to the back yard to make a little noise.

9. SR-1 targets are at 100yds. The Stantion with the steel is at 150. Prairie dogs are at about 135. What a hoot.

Nice. Great looking rifles. How were the groups?

SEI Coast Guard brakes?
Because today was their first day out I only fired 40 rnds through each rifle, I was not attempting any kind of groups. I just walked out and checked the targets just so I could answer your question. 2.5 to 3 inch groups using DAG. These were off a rest and I was only function firing the rifles. If some of my other rifles with similar barrels are any indication, these should do right about an inch with handloads. I will be happy to report in a week or two after the barrels are settled in.

Excellent work!

Can I ask the purpose of the barrel paste? Is that for a smooth and consistent draw as you're indexing the barrel?
It is a lubricant as well as no seize compound. Barrels don't last forever and I want them to come off reasonably easy.

Nice work! I really like your range - maybe you need to start doing youtube videos! Youtube needs more M14 vids!

How would you rate the JRA receivers to build on compared to the LRB receivers you built in the past?

Does anyone know if JRA & Bula Forge are in the works to start making op rods?

As far as I can tell, they are right there with them. I have 7 LRBs and already 5 JRA. I am not a machinist or a technical type person. I just enjoy putting toys together, and these new receivers build almost as easily as , I hate to say it, AR kits.

Art,

Super nice rifles and a fantastic collection! You have one of the best set ups I've seen(range on property). I do appreciate the step by step photograghy, it makes for a better thread. Very interesting indeed, wish I had the tools to build my own, that would be so cool.

I don't do jealous often as I am well aware there is always a faster, bigger gun, but bud you got me thinking.

It looks like JRA has got it together, their receivers really look good and if they build as easily as you say, why buy LRB?

Great thread, thanks.
