Hopefully picking up my M1A at the FFL today ! I believe this pic was June or July 1967 at Danang , RVN . Just posed for this pic . Note un-bloused boots and extra 20 round mag pouch on stock . Excuse poor quality pic . Loved the stock on this 14 . I liked the wood grain on it . (again-this pic does not do it justice .

Welcome aboard. Awesome picture. Do you recall how you attached the pouch to the stock?
It looks like an old issued M-14 pouch that normally were on the OD web belts .
Once you broke the rifle down into the three main groups it just slid over the top of the stock . this was a good way to stay lighter weight on guard etc . I've seen a few tape two mags together , one up and one turned down and then they could pop the first one out and flip the bottom one up and in . Whether that was faster , who knows . I didn't do that as I always thought the bottom mag turned would collect a lot of dirt , sand and be exposed to the hot , humid, climate . The bottom line was what ever worked .

Thanks to all for the welcome . Really looking to hanging out here daily . An absolute wealth of information found . Tony , have watched your videos . An excellent job and thanks for providing them . Some of the most outstanding weapons I've ever seen here .
The M-14 and all its various versions is second to none in my humble opinion . Next week planning on putting some serious rounds through it !

Thanks again to all

Thanks for doing what you did!

Every Vet I have talked to always said they were Pissed when the had to go to the M16. Many said Mattel or Plastic CENSOREDGI.
Their words not mine.
