Remington 700 VSSF .308!

I have to say I LOVE Remington 700 VSSF (Varmint Synthetic Stainless Fluted)! I finally took mine out to the range to get it sighted in. I was getting under 1/4" groups on the bench at 100 yards with Federal Gold Match with my first few tries. I am no expert marksman, this is the best shooting I've done with ANY of my rifles.

I actually have a pair of them, both stainless but one is custom finished in matte black (special run). Too bad Remington don't make them anymore in .308. These are sweet shooters! The black finish one has a HAIR TRIGGER! I have to figure why one trigger is so much lighter than the other. Haven't take the trigger group out yet to examine it.

Wow George,

That is a NICE pair!!! Excellent choice of "Bolt" rifles! 1/4" groups, out of the box! UNREAL!!!

We ought to have a "bolt" day and we all shoot for donuts!!! The biggest group buys the donuts!!!

Love them guns!!!

Those pictures "made" me get a Remington PS in 308. I have ordered a Zeiss 6.5X24 Mil-Dot scope for it(if it ever comes), then it was going to the custom 'smith for trigger job, barrel lapping, recrowning, and pillar bedding. But if you are getting 1/4" groups at 100 yds, why bother with the custom 'smith. I never was a Remington fan (pre-64 M 70 Winchester was my first love) but these two rifles made me sit up and take notice. 1/4" groups and factory fodder to boot! Wow. Custom 'smiths and handloading will soon be out the window. They are two beautiful rifles you have there. If I could ask, what kind of 'scope mounting system are you using? I am leaning towards the Leupold rings and bases, that is a beautiful set-up you have on either of those two! Mike

The black finished one I have the Badger MAX50 Rings and Badger 20moa one piece base on there. It's the ultimate setup, IMHO. I don't think there is a stronger combination out there.

The silver finished one I have the plain Leupold 2 piece base and rings on there. However, I just upgraded the setup last week. I took this rifle to a rifle class and couldn't adjust past 600yds so I changed it over to the same Badger MAX50 rings and Badge 20moa base. I also swapped the scope to the Leupold 3.5-10x 40mm Tactical M1 Illumin. Rect.

I sighted in with Federal Gold Match and got a 1/2" group with it. I am sure it can shoot better since I only shot enough to get me zero'ed in and stopped.

I am sold on these Remington 700's. They are more accurate than I am able to shoot. No expensive smith necessary. Just get ready to shell out about $250-$275 for the Rings and Base plus a good chunk on the scope.
Awesome Pair wdigeorge..................... =D>
