I have a 26" bull barreled 308 and would like to modify the stock so it can be magazine feed. The rifle shoots well and I'm just considering it.

TIA.

YOu wont have to modify the stock. Just look for an aftermarket external magazine kit. It will come with everyhting you need.

It it's an ADL, you will have to replace the stock with one that's inlet for a magazine or dropping floor plate. You can pick up an HS Precision takeoff stock from a Rem700 P/PSS/Mil Spec 5R or similar for about $200-$250. Of course, Manners and McMillan made awesome stocks. The Bell & Carlson Tactical Medalist is another excellent choice that is quite a bit less than the Manners or McMillan, and fully adjustable.

If it's a BDL, then usually there is only minor inletting required.

If you have a stock that's already made to fit a BDL system, CDI Precision will inlet it for $70, shipping included. Their bottom metal is excellent quality, as well.

Don't forget HS Precision stocks. Far better than Bell & Carlson, but less expensive than Manners and McMillan and just as good.
