I am in the market for an RDS for my black rifle. I have narrowed it down to two choices, the Trijicon MRO and the Aimpoint PRO. Handled both at the LGS, and they both have pros and cons.

Found some older threads, but looking for updates with some real time (and round) behind the MRO. Just looking for any input from you all about longevity and reviews in the real world. Or if you have any other recommendations that blow these two away, without spending even more money as these already push my budget. Thanks!

edit: Also, have you seen these on Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales?

Honestly, it's a tie. Both are 2moa dots. Both batteries last more than 4 years in the on position. Both are almost 30 mm tubes.
I know Aimpoints are tougher than snot. I don't know about the MRO, but it should be b/c the ACOG is tougher than snot.

Now you have to go with clarity and what your eye picks up faster. Handling both of them, which one feels more you, so to speak.

I don't have either one so I can't add any opinion about them . I am sure they are some of the best of the RDS available.

BUT.... I do have a.. Vortex SPARC II.. mounted on one of my Fals. It had/has great reviews and half the price of the above mentioned RDS. It also has a no ask lifetime warranty. It is small, liteweight, and so far very reliable, rugged. It came with multiple height mounts, flip up lens covers and Vortec makes multipliers that will match if the need arises, for again, about half price of the above.

The web is full of reviews on all of them. I read plenty of them before getting the SPARC. I came to my own conclusin that the SPARC does everthing the others do for less then half the price.

I am more then satisfied with mine.

btw.... I'm not an operator and being 62, the only combat I've seen lately is with the commode after La' Carreta mex food or Popeyes fried chicken..ICONCRY

I have an MRO and a T2 Aimpoint. Can't say which one I like better and neither has given me any trouble. I have the T2 on a weapon that I was trying to keep the weight down on, that's why I bought it, but I also like the size of the lense and the controls on the MRO. Sorry, I know that doesn't help you much other than you can't go wrong with either.

I have the Pro mounted on my 3-gun AR15 and I like it a lot. The glass is very good and the controls are easy to use. You can make the dot as dim, or as bright, as needed. I also have a Comp C3 that I have used to hunt with at night and during the day. It works very well. I have used a friend's MRO and I like the glass in the Aimpoints better.

Another thing I like about the Pro is that it comes ready to mount and it is easy to mount and remove. The big knob looks out of place, but three turns by hand and the sight is securely mounted. Three turns the other way and mount can be removed. The way it is designed, you cannot over tighten it.

I have an MrO. Used it on a black rifle and a commie gun.
I like the easy to use brightness settings, compact size, and field of view.
Side by side with the aimpoint there was very little optical difference between the two.
The biggest advantage to the MrO is its size.
Honestly, I'd pick the one with the best Black Friday deal. Then I'd get the other one too!

I have a Vortex Razor Red-Dot in 3 MOA for a Black-Rifle....
If you use an American Defense Mount, it gives a co-witness with your Iron Sights. Very light, high quality, and almost un-noticable on your rail.

I've had Aim-Points....along with their combined 3X swing-down magnifiers....
That's a lot of crap on your rail for mostly CQB type of shooting.
I have a couple of Vortex Razor HD-Gen-II's in 1~6x.
Best Red-Dot I've ever used at 1, 2, or 3x.....as well as the flexibility of dialing 6x for longer shots.

This video compares it to Red-Dot in speed shooting.

What are your dislikes on the MRO? I currently have a Comp M2 on my SCAR 17 and have no complaints but I would swap it for the MRO any day. Looks to be similar in viewing size but smaller and lighter....

I recently went with the Aimpoint PRO for my standard M1A urban battle rifle project, the mount that came with it is robust IMHO, and has a removable spacer so you can adjust the height somewhat, I think it would be perfect on an AR. In my case I ditched the mount because it was too high for my use, and the large knob was not useable on the ARM #18 rail, went with the lowest ring I could find and ended up being a Vortex Tactical 0.24" with the PRO clearing the rail by less than 1/8", it was a low as I could go and I can co-witness the front sight.

Aimpoint & Trijicon are probably equally as good, just depends which you like better for your need.
