I've read somewhere that because of manufacturing differences from cast to forged receivers that the SA Inc. cast receivers were "beefed up" from the original dimensions. I would like to know if the LRB forged receivers are closer to the original dimensions of the M14, and if so, in what areas?

from what I've been told, the only beefing up that was doen to Springfield's receivers is to widen the op rod rail similar but not as much as on the Armscorps receivers.

As far as LRB, I believe that they are the closest American Made receiver (save Smith Ent.) to USGI specs and they're forged.

editted for spellin ;)

Thanks Hawk. I remember reading something about the SA receiver being longer or shorter or fatter or etc... I can't remember which, and I had assumed that was the reason for all the scope mounting problems people have been having.
