WOWWWWW 8O 8O Me to,,,
He seems to be real good against watermelons at 10 yards (and I'm being charitable, here), but I'm sure the Marines on the range could clean his clock at 600 yards...

JMHO...

Maybe, old eyes make 600 yards hard... but let's not forget that the Gunny was a marine.
I would not anyone shooting at me with a M14.

Agreed.
I think I saw that episode on the history channel. I remember wondering why he didn't show his actual target at the time. OD

Yeah, me too, especially since he looked a little rusty in his shooting positions. He looked like he could have been slung up a bit tighter in his prone, and that splayed leg shooting position may be ok for guys with big beer guts, but it ain't the most stable of the sitting positions he could have used.

That said, it was great to see him shooting the M14 and he looked like he had a lot of fun.

I just wish he'd answer my e-mail asking for the lowdown on the M14 DMRs being fielded by the Army and the Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan. I thought for sure he'd like to do a story on how far ahead of the Army the Marines were and are with regards to the DMR concept and what they've done with the M14.

I would say they have just about all of this seasons shows done for the year. There is no telling how many requests they get a day. My guess is they take something that has been requested by several people. Throw there names in a hat and see who's name he mentions. I do like your idea though. OD

Maybe if everyone here sends him and e-mail requesting more info on the DMR M14s in the Big Sandbox and the Big Rock Pile he'll get around to it. Maybe a few of y'all could also ask for a comapirison between the M14 and the FAL, as well.

I can't remember the exact wording to my e-mail, but I asked for more info on the M14s that were being (re) deployed by the Army and Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan as a Designated Marksman Rifle. What kind of accurizing mods, scopes and mounts do they have, and how does the Army version stack up to the Marine version. Why did each branch decide to employ the M14 as a DMR, and how are they distributed at the platoon and squad level?
Still, ya gotta love Mr. Ermey's outspoken ways. I recently found this quote:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2002/10/06/wholly06.xml

"R Lee Ermey, who made his name as the fearsome drill sergeant in the film Full Metal Jacket, told The Telegraph that Streisand's views were far from representative of Hollywood as a whole.

"Once again, Barbra Streisand has opened her alligator-sized mouth wide before her humming-bird brain has had a chance to catch up," said Ermey. "Of course, she has the right to her opinion, but what she does is use the 'bully pulpit', helped by her fame, and people think she's talking for Hollywood"
