Im in the process of cleaning an USGI wood stock with acetone. Should I start sanding now, even though the stock feels sticky and leaves orange stains on my hand. What shall I do next ? Thanks in advance

How I have refinished stocks in the past with excellent results is after I removed the old finish with paint stripper I would go over it with a wet SOS pad , then rinse it all down good with hot water , let it dry some and go over it again with a fresh wet SOS pad and again rinse it off thoroughly with good hot water and let it dry for 24 hours , then sand to smooth finish and wipe it down with a damp cloth after sanding , then let it dry for another 24 hours and then apply the PTO or BLO...

Go to walmart in the automotive section and get some of that purple power degreaser, and it will get the sticky gunk off your stock in a hurry. I've not had any stock take longer than 30 minutes to be conpletely oil free. Apply, let it soak and rince. Let dry.
